The high number of pedestrian accidents recorded over the past weekend is causing serious concern.
elchi reports that this was stated by the Main State Traffic Police Department (MSTPD) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the information, due to non-compliance with safety rules, 6 pedestrian accidents were recorded over the last two days, resulting in 4 deaths and 2 injuries:
“These accidents, which mainly occur during the dark hours of the day, once again provide grounds to say that most pedestrians still do not pay attention to traffic rules, have a habit of crossing the road anywhere, use headphones while crossing, or are preoccupied with activities that distract them and make them forget they are in a dangerous area – in short, indifference to the simplest safety rules is one of the main reasons for the tragedies occurring on our roads.
However, every road user should know that the road is a shared space. In this environment where rules apply to everyone, any road user, including a pedestrian, who considers themselves outside the general norms of behavior is a potential victim of tragedy.
The simplest, yet vital duty of pedestrians is to cross the road only at designated crossings and with caution.
We must not forget that a pedestrian who does not follow this simple rule, whether intentionally or through negligence, can change their own fate and the fate of other road users.”
