Discussions often arise regarding the allowance paid to the families of martyrs.
“Elchi” reports that, in response to an inquiry from globalinfo.az, the State Social Protection Fund stated that, according to legislation, a monthly Presidential pension of 700 AZN is paid to the family of a martyr:
“Furthermore, the pension is divided equally among the family members of the martyr and is paid from the state budget. The following individuals are considered members of a martyr’s family:
– spouse;
– parents;
– children under 18, and children over 18 who were determined to have a disability before reaching 18 (up to 23 if enrolled in full-time educational institutions);
– brothers and sisters (those raised in orphanages);
– grandparents, if there is no one else legally required to support the children.”
