Zakharova saw duality in Macron’s statements.
elchi reports that French President Emmanuel Macron’s statements are mutually exclusive; a duality is clearly visible in them. This opinion was expressed by Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova on Sputnik Radio.
According to the diplomat, some will perceive the French leader’s words as a call for cooperation from Belarus to Russia, while others will see them as a reference to the “normality” of seizing tankers legally sailing in the world’s oceans.
Zakharova noted that for some, Macron making such statements will be “the embodiment of adequacy, and for others, of inadequacy.”
On June 1, Macron announced that the French Navy had intercepted the Tagor tanker, which was carrying cargo from the Russian port of Murmansk to Cameroon, in the Atlantic Ocean on the morning of May 31. The Kremlin stated that the actions of the French Navy bordered on piracy.
Zakharova stated that Russia is taking measures to protect the Russians who are members of the crew of the Tagor ship detained by France.
