The 20-point limit set for the restriction of driving rights may be reviewed.
elchi reports that a draft law regarding this has been submitted to the Milli Majlis.
It has been stated that the fines and penalty points applied to drivers have been widely discussed in recent days. In particular, it is noted that the 20-point limit creates serious problems for drivers. According to experts, the limit could be reconsidered.
Transport expert Elmaddin Muradli said that there has been serious concern and dissatisfaction among drivers regarding penalty points recently: “The root of this lies in the fact that in recent years, in addition to fines, points were added for some violations related to stopping and parking. That is, 2 points were added for parking cars on sidewalks, within 5 meters of intersections and pedestrian crossings, in bus lanes, or in the second lane.”
According to the expert, the point system regarding violations of stopping and parking rules should be reviewed. In this direction, the abolition of the point system while maintaining fine sanctions could also be discussed: “It would be beneficial to remove penalty points for some violations, and at the same time increase the 20-point deprivation limit to 25-30 points.”
E. Muradli noted that a draft has already been submitted to the Milli Majlis by the relevant authorities.
