Diplomatic relations established between Azerbaijan and Micronesia

Diplomatic relations have been established between Azerbaijan and the Federated States of Micronesia.

This was reported to elchi by the Permanent Mission of Azerbaijan to the UN.

In New York, USA, a Joint Communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two states was signed by Azerbaijan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Tofig Musayev, and his Micronesian counterpart, Jim Lipwe:

“The Joint Communiqué expresses the intention to promote mutual understanding and cooperation between Azerbaijan and Micronesia and their peoples.

The document also emphasizes that the governments of both states, in establishing diplomatic relations, are guided by the UN Charter and the universally accepted norms and principles of international law, particularly the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity of states, and non-interference in their internal affairs.

The permanent representatives have also addressed a letter to the UN Secretary-General for the Joint Communiqué to be circulated as a UN document.”
