Kvrivishvili: Azerbaijan is Georgia’s strategic economic partner

“Azerbaijan is Georgia’s strategic economic partner, especially in the energy sector.”

elchi reports that this was stated by Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, in an interview with the “Imedi” TV channel.

She emphasized that a package of historic agreements was signed during Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze’s visit to Azerbaijan.

“The agreements cover the energy and transport sectors. Extremely complex and important negotiations, which lasted for months, were held for the signing of these documents. Of course, the visit of the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, to Georgia and his meeting with the honorary chairman of the ‘Georgian Dream’ party, Bidzina Ivanishvili, played an important role in these negotiations,” the minister added.

According to Kvrivishvili, the agreements signed in Baku are of great importance for Georgia. She noted that the reached agreements once again clearly demonstrated the friendly and good-neighborly relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan.
