Bloomberg: Russia wants the conflict in Ukraine to end by the end of 2026.
elchi reports that, citing sources, Bloomberg states that Russian President Vladimir Putin may have plans to end the conflict by the end of 2026 on Moscow’s terms. However, the Kremlin denies this information.
According to sources, the Russian president allegedly intends to achieve full control over Donbas by the end of 2026, as well as sign a broad security agreement that includes the recognition of new Russian territories with Europe.
Meanwhile, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov denied that Putin had set any deadline for ending the conflict.
On May 9, Vladimir Putin stated that the conflict in Ukraine was coming to an end. Peskov later noted that progress in the peace process allows one to say that the conflict is “nearing its end,” but according to him, “there is no point in talking about any specifics at the moment.” On May 20, Peskov said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is the main obstacle to resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
On May 20, the Russian President’s Special Representative for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries, Kirill Dmitriev, announced the desire of US President’s envoy Steve Witkoff to visit Russia.
