Jeyhun Bayramov received a delegation led by Olof Skoog

Today, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, received a delegation led by Olof Skoog, the Managing Director for Russia, Eastern Partnership, Central Asia, Regional Cooperation and OSCE at the European External Action Service of the European Union.

Information about this was provided to “Elchi” by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, the current state and prospects of Azerbaijan-European Union relations, regional security issues, the situation in the post-conflict period, the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as other regional and international issues of mutual interest were discussed.

The parties emphasized the importance of developing political dialogue and cooperation in various directions between Azerbaijan and the European Union. In this context, the existing potential for further expanding the partnership in energy security, transport connectivity, green energy, and other fields was highlighted.

Azerbaijan’s role in the energy security of the European Union and its contributions in this framework were highly appreciated, and projects implemented in the fields of renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, and electricity export were reviewed.

The importance of steps taken to expand infrastructure capabilities along existing routes and create new routes with the aim of increasing and diversifying the transport and communication potential of our region was noted.

At the meeting, an exchange of views took place regarding the negotiations on the new bilateral agreement and the Partnership Priorities document between Azerbaijan and the European Union.

The parties discussed efforts to ensure sustainable peace and stability in the region, and reviewed issues related to advancing the normalization process of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The other side was informed about reconstruction and restoration works, as well as the mine threat. Olof Skoog, for his part, shared his impressions of his visit to the liberated territories.

Other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest were also discussed at the meeting.
