Nearly 24,000 people live in Khankendi.
elchi reports that Elchin Yusubov, the Special Representative of the President in the city of Khankendi, Aghdara, and Khojaly districts, stated this at the Azerbaijan pavilion during the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) at an event titled “Post-conflict urban planning: Restoring destroyed identity and rebuilding an integrated future.”
The special representative stated that the construction of the agricultural faculty building of Karabakh University will begin in Khojaly next year, and student admissions will be carried out in the following years.
Elchin Yusubov pointed out that mines were the main obstacle in the restoration of these territories: “In Khankendi, 1,456 hectares, in Aghdara 10,359 hectares, and in Khojaly 9,874 hectares of land have been cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance.”
