CNN: Trump’s team discussed war scenarios against Iran at a golf club.
“Elchi” reports that, citing sources, CNN states that US President Donald Trump has been informed about what to do if he decides to resume military operations against the Islamic Republic.
According to the channel, on May 17, Trump held a meeting with key representatives of his national security team at his golf club in Virginia. The meeting was attended by Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff.
During the meeting, Pentagon representatives proposed several strike scenarios, including attacks on Iran’s energy facilities and infrastructure.
The meeting took place shortly after Trump’s return from China. According to CNN, the American leader is dissatisfied with the progress of negotiations with Tehran and is also concerned about the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which affects global oil prices. CNN also reported that in recent days, Trump has begun to consider the possibility of resuming large-scale military operations against Iran more seriously, although he still prefers a diplomatic solution to the conflict. Additionally, after the meeting, Trump held a phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
On May 15, The New York Times, citing sources, reported that Israel and the US are actively preparing to resume military operations against Iran. According to the newspaper, the Islamic Republic could be subjected to new attacks earlier this week.
