Iraqi military officials have not received any information regarding the launch of three unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from Iraqi territory toward Saudi Arabia.
“Elchi” reports that the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs has requested a joint investigation into the incident from the Saudi side, according to a statement from the foreign policy department.
“As soon as reports of a UAV strike on Saudi Arabia were released, Iraq’s Air Defense forces conducted an immediate inspection. No information regarding the launch of drones from Iraqi territory was obtained, and we are requesting that the Saudi side jointly investigate this incident to establish an accurate picture of the event,” the Iraqi Foreign Ministry’s statement noted. The ministry emphasized that Baghdad considers “any attempt to destabilize the situation in the region and harm Iraq’s relations with neighboring countries” to be unacceptable.
Yesterday, the Saudi Ministry of Defense announced that the kingdom’s air defense systems had neutralized three UAVs launched from Iraqi territory. No information regarding the consequences of the attack has been provided.
