On May 6-7, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov paid a visit to the Republic of Chile.
According to the information provided to elchi by the MFA, the 2nd round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Chile was held in the capital, Santiago, during the visit.
The delegations were led by Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov on behalf of Azerbaijan, and by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs Patricio Torres on behalf of Chile.
During the consultations, the current state and development prospects of relations between the two countries in political, economic, humanitarian, energy, cultural, tourism, and other fields were discussed. In particular, mutual support was expressed for establishing cooperation between the relevant agencies of the two countries to promote trade, business, and investments.
In the end, a Memorandum of Understanding on academic cooperation was signed between ADA University and the “Andres Bello” Diplomatic Academy of the Republic of Chile.
Later, the Azerbaijani delegation met with Paula Estevez Weinstein, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for International Economic Affairs of Chile. During the discussions, the parties reviewed the opportunities for promoting economic and trade relations between the two countries and stated the importance of implementing joint initiatives in this direction.
Our delegation also held meetings with Ivan Moreira, Vice-President (Deputy Speaker) of the Senate of the National Congress of Chile, Manuel Jose Ossandon, President of the Foreign Relations Commission of the Senate of the National Congress of Chile, Senator Rojo Edwards, the new chairman of the Inter-parliamentary friendship group in the Senate of the National Congress of Chile, and new members of the Friendship Group.
During the discussions, mutual support was expressed for the promotion of parliamentary diplomacy between the two countries and the development of cooperation within bilateral and international platforms in this framework.
Within the framework of the visit, Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov gave a presentation on the topic “Foreign Policy of Azerbaijan” at the “Andres Bello” Diplomatic Academy.
