ABC: US monitors hantavirus cases with ‘Level 3 Emergency’ code

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is reportedly monitoring hantavirus cases with a ‘Level 3 Emergency’ code.
elchi reports that, according to sources close to the matter cited by ABC, the CDC has activated its Emergency Operations Center due to hantavirus cases.
The CDC has also placed hantavirus cases under ‘Level 3 Emergency’ monitoring.
This is the lowest level for emergencies, meaning the risk to the public remains low, but the situation is being actively monitored by the Public Health Agency.
Hantavirus was detected in passengers on the ‘MV Hondius’ ship traveling from Argentina to Cape Verde (Cape Verde Islands) in West Africa, and 3 infected people have died.
Hantavirus
Hantavirus is primarily known as a disease transmitted by rodents.
Transmitted by breathing air contaminated with dried rodent feces, urine, and saliva, and sometimes through rodent bites or scratches, the virus causes symptoms such as fever, fatigue, and muscle aches.
The virus can also cause respiratory failure and, in some cases, internal bleeding and kidney failure.
