Mirzoyan: Armenia-Turkey dialogue has matured enough to yield positive results

The dialogue between Armenia and Turkey has already matured enough to yield positive results.

“Elchi” reports that Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated this during discussions at the “Yerevan Dialogue” international conference.

“We have an excellent dialogue with Turkey. There have been many opportunities for cooperation. It can be said that our representatives have signed a memorandum on the joint restoration of the historical Ani Bridge located on the Armenia-Turkey border,” he noted.

The minister also stated that technical work towards the normalization of relations between Armenia and Turkey is ongoing: “A week ago, the third meeting of the working group for the restoration of the railway connection on the Gyumri-Kars route was held. So, there are many examples of cooperation, but in general, the border is still closed.”

Mirzoyan noted that the parties are mutually ready to establish diplomatic relations and open the borders: “In the initial stage, we had agreed on opening the border for citizens of third countries and diplomats, but the borders are still closed.”

The Foreign Minister added that some agreements are being implemented, while others are still in the preparation stage: “but I can say with certainty that this will happen, because the dialogue between Armenia and Turkey has reached a sufficiently mature level for positive results.”
