Ukraine has announced its decision to open an embassy in Manama, the capital of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
elchi reports that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha wrote about this on his Telegram channel following the results of his meeting with his Bahraini counterpart, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani.
“I was pleased to hold a bilateral meeting with my colleague, Dr. Abdullatif Al Zayani, during President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to Bahrain,” Sybiha stated.
According to him, Ukraine has announced its decision to open an embassy in Manama today. “We also signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and Bahrain. These are concrete steps towards a stronger and more structured partnership,” Sybiha said.
He also noted that the parties agreed to deepen bilateral cooperation, which has seen real progress in recent years following the Bahraini minister’s first visit to Ukraine in 2023.
According to the Ukrainian minister, the current talks focused on regional security: “Ukraine expresses its solidarity with Bahrain and other countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council in the face of Iran’s irresponsible and destabilizing actions.”
Sybiha emphasized that the situation in the Strait of Hormuz requires special attention, as freedom of navigation must be ensured as the foundation of global energy security and the stability of international markets. “We agreed to strengthen coordination in international organizations and expand cooperation in the field of food security and supply stability,” he stressed.
According to him, Ukraine is ready to offer practical solutions and share its experience, particularly in countering security threats and strengthening resilience.
