Militants from the “Boko Haram” group have attacked a military base in Chad.
elchi reports, citing “Reuters”, that this was stated in an army statement on Tuesday.
According to the information, at least 23 security personnel were killed and 26 others were injured as a result of the attack.
“The army repelled the attack that took place in the Lake Chad region on Monday evening, and operations to clear the area are currently underway,” the statement noted.
Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Deby condemned the militants’ attack in a statement on the “Facebook” social network.
It should be recalled that since 2009, “Boko Haram” militants have expanded their influence from northeastern Nigeria to western Chad, and attacks on military facilities there have intensified.
