An awareness-raising event was held at the Azerbaijan Medical University, organized by the State Fire Control Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
elchi reports, citing the MES, that the purpose of the event on the topic “Fire safety of healthcare facilities” was to instill knowledge about emergency situations, including fire safety behavior rules, among the university staff and students.
Initially, MES employees provided detailed information to the university staff regarding necessary behavior rules during a fire and evacuation measures. Video clips were shown, and the use of primary fire extinguishing equipment was demonstrated practically, followed by a Q&A session.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Head of the State Fire Control Service, Colonel of Internal Service Jamil Khudiyev, spoke about the importance of ensuring fire safety in healthcare facilities, especially in rooms where patients and children are accommodated. He discussed the importance of strengthening preventive measures by the heads of healthcare facilities and spoke about fire safety standards.
The event emphasized the importance of raising awareness among medical staff about fire safety rules, ensuring that electrical appliances and equipment operating in healthcare facilities are installed and operated in accordance with the requirements of the “Rules for the Installation of Electrical Installations,” and the necessity of periodic maintenance and inspections of such equipment. Furthermore, it was stressed that primary fire extinguishing equipment and automatic fire extinguishing systems must be kept in working order at all times, that basements of medical and children’s institutions and pharmacies should not be used as workshops or warehouses for storing flammable and combustible liquids, and that such liquids must be stored only under safe conditions and in specified quantities.
The tasks set during the event were successfully carried out.
