Restrictions imposed on artificial intelligence at the Oscars

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced that Oscar awards for acting and screenwriting categories will only be given to work performed by humans.

BBC reported on this matter.

According to the updated rules released by the Academy, acting can only be nominated for an award if it is a human performance, and a screenplay can only be nominated if it is written by a human.

The decision was made against the backdrop of the widespread adoption of artificial intelligence technologies in the film industry in recent times. For instance, there have been cases in some projects where deceased actors have been recreated using artificial intelligence or entirely artificial actors have been created.

It should be noted that the issue of using artificial intelligence has become a topic of discussion in Hollywood in recent years and was one of the main demands during the screenwriters’ strike.
