Starting today, industrial fishing and the harvesting of other aquatic bioresources are prohibited in all water basins across the country.

It is noted that, in accordance with the “Rules for Fishing and Harvesting Other Aquatic Bioresources” approved by the Cabinet of Ministers’ decision No. 243 dated June 2, 2017, due to the fish spawning period, industrial fishing and the harvesting of other aquatic bioresources are prohibited in all water basins across the country from May 1, 2026, until September 1.
We call upon all individuals and legal entities engaged in fishing to comply with the established rules and to refrain from fishing during prohibited periods and with prohibited equipment.
Persons who violate the rules for fishing and harvesting other aquatic bioresources, including those engaged in illegal fishing, shall be held liable in accordance with the Code of Administrative Offenses and the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
In order to prevent illegal fishing, regular monitoring measures are carried out in the Caspian Sea and inland water basins by employees of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Center under the Ministry and the Water Transport Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and appropriate measures are taken against violations of the law.
