Ukraine has sent a request for legal assistance to Israel regarding grain

Ukraine’s Ambassador to Israel, Yevhen Korniychuk, stated that a request for legal assistance has been sent to the Israeli Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Justice regarding the entry of agricultural products into the country that were “illegally” removed by the Russian Federation from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

“Elchi” reports that this was announced by “Interfax-Ukraine”.

“The request for legal assistance was received from the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine overnight, and we are sending it along with a note to the local MFA and the Ministry of Justice. Our lawyers have already submitted the request directly to the Israeli Prosecutor General’s Office,” Korniychuk told the agency on Wednesday.

As reported, on Tuesday, April 28, the Ambassador of the State of Israel to Ukraine, Michael Brodsky, was summoned to the Ukrainian MFA. He was presented with a protest note regarding the continued shipment to Israel of agricultural products “illegally” removed by Russia from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

“The Ukrainian side emphasized that the origin of this grain has been precisely determined, and the schemes for its concealment, particularly cases of transshipment from one vessel to another in the Black Sea, are well known to everyone, including the competent authorities of Israel. Despite this, the relevant cargoes continue to enter Israeli ports and are being released into commercial circulation,” the statement said.

It was also noted that the case concerns the vessel “ABINSK”, but several other ships loaded with agricultural products “illegally” removed by Russia from the occupied territories of Ukraine had arrived in Israel previously.

the MFA particularly emphasized that the Israeli side’s disregard for Ukraine’s official appeals and international legal assistance requests, including requests for the seizure of vessels and cargo, effectively creates conditions for the legalization of stolen Ukrainian grain. The ministry stated that it views these cases not as isolated incidents, but as a systematic practice that bears signs of conscious assistance to illegal economic activity related to the temporary occupation of Ukrainian territories and evasion of sanctions. It is emphasized that in this regard, Ukraine demands that Israel take urgent measures to stop the import of stolen grain and prevent its unloading in Israeli ports.

As of April 27, the vessel “ABINSK” was in the Haifa roadstead, awaiting unloading.
