In recent times, the volume of cargo imported from the “Temu” platform in Azerbaijan has increased sharply. Large volumes of cargo arrived at the airport in a short period without electronic data being submitted in advance. This made it necessary to verify the addresses and contents of the packages.
According to elchi, the Chairman of the State Customs Committee, Shahin Bagirov, stated this during the discussion of the draft law on amendments to the Customs Code, which was discussed at today’s meeting of the Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship Committee of the Milli Majlis.
He noted that not only consumer products but also medicines, psychotropic substances, and other risky products can enter the country within the framework of e-commerce:
“For this reason, customs inspection is essential. If we do not check the cargo accurately, justified objections may be raised by the public and deputies. Therefore, for a certain period – about two weeks – there were delays in products brought via “Temu”. However, the issue has already been resolved at the expense of our own resources. At the same time, a requirement has been placed on “Temu” to submit data in advance.”
