A new state standard, AZS EN 12472:2026 “Method for the simulation of wear and corrosion for the detection of nickel release from coated items,” has been adopted for the jewelry industry in Azerbaijan.
This was reported to elchi by the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control.
The adoption of the mentioned state standard serves to implement internationally accepted test methods for determining the amount of nickel during contact of jewelry with human skin, thereby assessing the potential for preventing the negative impact of nickel on health, protecting consumer health, and ensuring the assessment of the compliance of jewelry and other metal products presented on the market with safety requirements.
It was adopted by AZSTAND based on the presentation of the Technical Committee for Standardization of “Precious Metals and Precious Stones” (AZSTAND/TK 36), established under the “Consumer Goods Expertise Center” LLC under the Agency, and has been included in the State Fund of Normative Documents on Standardization.
