German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated that he does not believe the US can end the war in Iran quickly, saying: “An entire nation (the US) is being humiliated by the Iranian leadership”.

Stating that he does not believe the US can end the war in Iran quickly, Merz said: “Because the Iranians are stronger than previously thought, and the Americans do not have a truly credible strategy in the negotiations.”
Merz added: “The problem with such conflicts is always this: it is not enough to just enter, you also have to get out. We saw this very painfully in Afghanistan for 20 years. We saw it in Iraq as well.” Merz claimed that the Americans entered this war in Iran without any plan, which makes ending the conflict even more difficult now. Stating that the Iranians are either very good negotiators or very skilled at not negotiating at all, Merz said, “An entire nation (the US) is being humiliated by the Iranian leadership.”
