On April 28, Colonel-General Hikmet Mirzayev, Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Commander of the Land Forces, met with a delegation led by Army General Metin Tokel, Commander of the Land Forces of the Turkish Armed Forces, who is on a visit to our country.
According to the information provided to “Elchi” by the Ministry of Defense, first, the bust of National Leader Heydar Aliyev was visited, a wreath was laid in front of it, and his memory was honored with respect and reverence. The memory of the Great Leader and our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland was commemorated with a minute of silence.
During the solemn welcoming ceremony, the commanders passed in front of the honor guard. The national anthems of both countries were played.
At the meeting, a detailed exchange of views took place regarding the current state of military cooperation between our country and Turkey and its further expansion in the future.
The parties particularly emphasized the importance of joint and international exercises in improving the professionalism, knowledge, and skills of the personnel of the respective troop types of both brotherly countries and discussed a number of other issues of mutual interest.
