The Washington administration assesses the incident that took place on Saturday at a banquet in Washington attended by US President Donald Trump as a new assassination attempt against him.
“Elchi” reports that White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated this at a regular briefing for journalists.
“I felt it appropriate to come here today to answer your questions and inform the American public about the measures the US administration is taking in response to the latest assassination attempt on President Trump’s life,” she said.
Leavitt added that the perpetrator intended to kill the President and as many administration officials as possible.
It should be noted that on April 25, a shooting occurred at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner at the Washington Hilton hotel, which Trump attended. The American leader, as well as Vice President J.D. Vance and their spouses, were immediately evacuated from the hall. The suspect in the attack was detained by Secret Service agents.
In addition to US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, the banquet was attended by Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, FBI Director Kash Patel, as well as a number of other ministers and high-ranking representatives of the American administration.
