5.7 magnitude earthquake in Crete

Around 06:00 in the morning, a strong 5.7 magnitude earthquake occurred on the island of Crete. The earthquake was felt throughout the island, but according to preliminary reports, no casualties or damage have been recorded.
“Elchi” reports that, according to the statement by the Athens Geodynamic Institute, the epicenter of the earthquake, which occurred at 06:18, was located 23 kilometers south-southwest of the settlement of Goodoura in the Lasithi region.
The depth of the earthquake was measured at 9.7 kilometers.
The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported the earthquake as having a magnitude of 5.8.
Local authorities stated that they are monitoring the situation and that no serious damage has been recorded so far.
