Magyar: If Netanyahu comes, we will arrest him

Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar stated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court, will be arrested if he visits Hungary.
“Elchi” reports that he answered journalists’ questions at a press conference held in the Hungarian capital, Budapest.
In response to a question about whether he invited Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the country and whether he would be arrested if he came to Hungary, Magyar stated that he meets with all heads of state without discrimination and invites everyone.
Magyar continued on the subject as follows:
“My colleagues investigated the matter and determined that we could stop the withdrawal process (from the ICC) until June 2. The Tisa government’s firm intention is to stop this process and ensure that Hungary remains a member of the ICC. Therefore, I have not misled anyone. If a country is a member of the International Criminal Court and a person with an arrest warrant enters that country’s territory, that person must be arrested. This question can be asked over the phone, but I think every head of state and government is aware of this legal situation.”
Magyar invited Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu
In a statement issued by the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office, it was reported that the first phone call took place between Netanyahu and Magyar, who won the general elections held in Hungary. The statement said that Magyar invited Netanyahu to Hungary for the ceremony marking the 70th anniversary of the Hungarian Uprising.
