Video footage has been circulating on social media claiming that access to the Baku Metro has been closed again.
Bakhtiyar Mammadov, head of the Public Relations Department of Baku Metro CJSC, stated that the reports about the closure of the Baku Metro are untrue:
“I have been at the ’28 May’ station since 9 a.m. We announced yesterday that the Saturday schedule would be applied in the metro today. Saturday is a day when there are fewer passengers in the metro. However, today is a working day, and there is a passenger flow.
Instructions have been given to all stations to ensure maximum passenger safety. Regulations must start directly from the entrance doors. Considering potential consequences and safety, excessive crowding and overloading on the platform must be avoided.
Appropriate regulations are being carried out above ground in accordance with the platform capacity. It is not realistic for any station to be closed today.”
It should be noted that a technical failure occurred in the metro yesterday, and access to all metro stations was restricted.
