Five Azerbaijani citizens have been repatriated from Syria.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan informed elchi about this.
It was stated that as a result of phased and coordinated measures taken by the Government of Azerbaijan, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the “Rules for the repatriation and rehabilitation of minor Azerbaijani citizens in difficult life situations in foreign countries” approved by the Decree of the President of Azerbaijan No. 2336 dated October 28, 2023, the repatriation of five Azerbaijani citizens, including two women and three children, from the conflict zone in Syria to our country via Turkey was carried out on April 21.
First of all, the location, identity, and Azerbaijani citizenship of the repatriates were determined, and then their transfer to the territory of Turkey was organized.
Representatives of the relevant state agencies responsible for the repatriation of Azerbaijani citizens from Iraq and Syria were sent to Istanbul, Turkey, and the initial medical and psychological examination of the repatriates was ensured.
With the coordination work carried out by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Turkey and the Consulate General in Istanbul, our citizens were provided with return certificates and flight tickets to Azerbaijan.
On April 21, the repatriation of the mentioned citizens to our country was carried out accompanied by a delegation.
Relevant measures are planned to be implemented for the social rehabilitation and reintegration of the repatriates into society.
Necessary measures will continue to be taken for the repatriation of Azerbaijani citizens who have become victims of armed conflict in foreign territories.
