A commemorative event dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the 2016 April battles and the memory of the April martyrs was held at the “N” military unit of the Special Forces.
This was reported to “Elchi” by the Ministry of Defense.
It was stated that first, the memory of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev and our compatriots who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland was honored with a minute of silence, and the National Anthem was played accompanied by a military orchestra.
Commander of the Special Forces, Hero of the Patriotic War Major General Alakbar Jahangirov, speaking at the event, noted that the 2016 April battles were the beginning of our glorious victory, leading to subsequent victories won under the leadership of the Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief – the Gunnut operation, the Tovuz battles, the Patriotic War, and the anti-terror operation.
During the speeches, it was emphasized that the members of the Special Forces are always capable of fulfilling any combat mission based on the order of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief for the sake of our country’s security, territorial integrity, and sovereignty, and are ready to sacrifice their lives for the Motherland.
In their speeches, the family members and relatives of the martyrs expressed their gratitude to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, as well as the leadership of the Ministry of Defense, for the attention and care shown to them, and for keeping the memory of our martyrs high.
Combat participants and representatives of the public who spoke at the event talked about the historical significance of the April battles, the reasons for their occurrence, and how the Azerbaijani soldier showed professionalism and courage during these battles, dealing crushing blows to the enemy.
In the artistic part of the event, a documentary film dedicated to the April battles was shown, and musical compositions on patriotic themes were performed by soloists of the Army Ideological and Cultural Center named after Hazi Aslanov.
In the end, a memorial meal was organized in honor of the martyrs, and prayers were read for their souls.
After gifts were presented to the guests, commemorative photos were taken.
