Lukashenko: I am not an emperor like Trump or Putin.
elchi reports that during an interview with RT journalist Rick Sanchez, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko shared his thoughts on Russian and American leaders Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. He described them as great people, “emperors.”
“You know, I am not an emperor like Donald Trump or Vladimir Putin. They can talk about being loved. They are great people, emperors,” Lukashenko stated.
Lukashenko described himself as the leader of a “middle country,” noting that he does not have as many opportunities as Putin and Trump.
“And this relaxed attitude towards [universal] love, especially after many years of presidency, stems from here,” the Belarusian leader explained.
In the same interview, Lukashenko stated that his relationship with Putin is more than just friendship. According to the Belarusian president, he treats his Russian counterpart like a brother. Lukashenko noted that Putin treats him the same way.
Furthermore, during his conversation with Sanchez, Lukashenko denied rumors that he wanted to visit the US solely to shake Trump’s hand. The Belarusian leader admitted that he would be pleased to see the American leader and talk to him face-to-face, but emphasized that this was not an end in itself.
