On April 17, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with the Transitional President of the Syrian Arab Republic Ahmad Al-Sharaa in Antalya.

During the conversation, President Ilham Aliyev and Ahmad Al-Sharaa recalled with satisfaction their meetings during the latter’s visit to Azerbaijan last year, as well as within the framework of the 4th Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
It was emphasized that concrete steps have been taken regarding the development of relations between our countries following the changes that have taken place in Syria.
Touching upon the importance of cooperation in the energy sector, the significance of implementing the project for the export of Azerbaijani gas to Syria via Turkey was noted, highlighting its contribution to Syria’s energy security and its overall importance for the country’s development.
Ahmad Al-Sharaa once again expressed his gratitude to the head of state for the support Azerbaijan has provided to Syria.
During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the prospects for bilateral relations and other issues of mutual interest, and the role of reciprocal visits and contacts at various levels in the development of our relations was highlighted.
During the conversation, concern was expressed regarding the tension in the region, and the importance of resolving the conflict through diplomatic means was emphasized.
The head of state invited Ahmad Al-Sharaa to visit our country.
