Starting July 15, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) will release updated 100-manat banknotes into circulation.

According to information provided to elchi by the CBA, central banks periodically update the design and security systems of banknotes in line with international practice to strengthen the fight against counterfeiting, apply the latest technologies and innovations, and ensure public satisfaction. Taking international experience into account, the CBA has begun the process of updating national banknotes within the existing concept by applying the latest innovations, nano, and micro-technologies in the field of currency. Since 2021, updated 1, 5, 10, 20, and 50-manat banknotes have been released into circulation.

As a continuation of these processes, the security system and design of the 100-manat banknote, dedicated to the theme of “Economy and Development,” have been updated using the latest technologies and innovations within the existing concept. This banknote features the latest security elements, including a color-changing hologram with a 3D micro-mirror effect, the miraculous “Spark Flow Prime” element (a color-changing Manat symbol with a dynamic light effect), a watermark (the State Emblem and the nominal value visible when held up to light), recognition elements for the visually impaired (special raised lines on the right and left edges of the front side, allowing the authenticity and denomination to be identified by touch), a vertical design (the back of the banknote is designed vertically in accordance with the most modern global trends in banknote production), a security thread, intaglio printing, micro-texts, etc.

The updated 100-manat banknote bears the signature of the CBA Governor, Taleh Tahir oglu Kazimov, located in the upper left corner on the front side.

The process of adapting all cash systems and equipment currently used in the country to the updated 100-manat banknote has begun.

The updated 100-manat banknote will circulate in parallel with the existing 100-manat banknote of the same denomination and will be used without restrictions as a means of payment.
