The processes related to the school attacks that have occurred in Turkey in recent days are being closely monitored by the public.
“Elchi” reports that the Communications Directorate of the Turkish Presidential Administration has issued a statement regarding this matter.
“It is of great importance to manage the process with common sense, to protect the peace of society, and especially to keep the psychological safety of our children in focus,” the statement said, adding that media organizations must be maximally responsible in their broadcasting policies.
Thus, describing acts of violence in detail, highlighting the identities of victims and perpetrators, and keeping events on the agenda by dramatizing them can create an encouraging effect for similar actions:
“An environment of fear and panic in society will also deepen. For this reason, sensitivity and ethical principles should be taken as a basis in broadcasts.”
It should be noted that there was an armed attack on one of the schools in Turkey’s Kahramanmaras city.
