MES has appealed to the public regarding the expected unstable weather conditions

The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) has appealed to the public in connection with the expected windy and unstable weather conditions in some areas.

According to “Elchi”, the appeal states that, according to the National Hydrometeorological Service, intensive rain is expected in some places in the coming days, short-term floods are predicted in some mountain rivers, and lightning and intermittent strong winds are expected.

Taking the above into account, the Ministry of Emergency Situations once again reminds of the relevant safety rules.

Thus, during strong winds, it is recommended to stay away from light structures and temporary buildings, buildings and billboards, and not to stand under electric poles and wires or tall trees.

In addition, considering the difficulties caused by strong winds in extinguishing fires, fire safety rules must be strictly observed in windy weather conditions. Also, small vessel operators should keep in mind that going out to sea in such weather conditions is prohibited.

Likewise, to protect against floods and flash floods that may be caused by intensive rainfall, it is recommended to stay away from flood-prone areas and, if faced with this danger, to immediately climb to the nearest high ground.

At the same time, to protect against lightning-related dangers, it is necessary to disconnect electrical appliances from the network, not to use the phone (fixed network, mobile, payphone, etc.), not to approach power lines, lightning rods, gutters, and antennas while outdoors, not to take shelter under tall trees and choose relatively low-lying places for this purpose, and if in a car, to stop moving, roll up the windows, and wait for the lightning to pass.
