Duration of the contract for the supply of Azerbaijani gas to Serbia extended

The contract signed for the supply of Azerbaijani gas to Serbia via the Bulgaria–Serbia interconnector has been extended until the end of 2026.

According to the information provided to elchi by the Ministry of Finance, this was stated by Sahil Babayev, Minister and co-chair of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Serbia, during a meeting with a delegation led by Dubravka Djedović Handanović, Serbia’s Minister of Mining and Energy, who is on a visit to our country.

During the meeting, the current state and development prospects of bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Serbia, including relations in the energy sector, were discussed.

Minister Sahil Babayev emphasized that the relations between the two countries are of a strategic partnership nature, noting that cooperation is successfully developing on the basis of a solid legal framework and high-level political dialogue. It was stated that numerous signed agreements, as well as the activities of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Strategic Partnership Council, create a favorable basis for expanding relations.

For her part, D. Djedović emphasized the importance of strengthening effective and mutually beneficial cooperation in the energy sector between the two countries. She stated that the agreement signed in February 2026, which provides for the construction of a gas-turbine power plant in Serbia, will make a significant contribution to strengthening energy security in the region.

During the meeting, an extensive exchange of views also took place regarding directions for expanding cooperation in the fields of oil and oil products, electricity, as well as green energy and renewable energy sources.
