The chairman of the Justice, Law, Democracy (AHD) Party and Member of Parliament, Gudrat Hasanguliyev, responded to an inquiry from the party’s press service regarding the two-week ceasefire reached between Iran and the US:
– Mr. Gudrat, we would like to know your opinion on the agreement regarding the two-week ceasefire between Iran and the US, mediated by Pakistan…
– The entire civilized world was following the course of events with great anxiety. If Trump had carried out his threats and struck Iran’s energy system, it would have led to the greatest humanitarian catastrophe of the 21st century.
We have always been in favor of resolving the conflict through diplomatic means. Everyone should be grateful to Pakistan and China for their contribution to achieving the ceasefire. The current situation is a great chance for Iran to reconcile with Israel and the US, put an end to half a century of hostility, bring lasting peace to the region, and have the sanctions imposed on Iran lifted. Iran is a country with fertile lands and vast natural resources. If internal reforms are carried out, if the country’s revenues are directed not to armament and maintaining proxy armed forces abroad, but to the economy and solving social problems, if the fight against corruption is strengthened, if protectionism in the economy is ended, if a real competitive environment is created, if the rule of law is ensured, and if internal freedoms are expanded, Iran will turn into one of the freest and most powerful states in the region and perhaps the world in a short period of time. Let us hope that peace efforts will yield positive results and that, as a result of the reforms to be carried out by Iran’s new leadership, Iran will become one of the most civilized and peace-loving countries in the world.
