Today, the next meeting of the CICA Senior Officials Committee was held under the Chairmanship of Azerbaijan in the administrative building of the Secretariat of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in the city of Astana.
“Elchi” reports that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan released information about this.
It was noted that at the committee meeting, Azerbaijan’s active engagement within the framework of its CICA Chairmanship on the theme “Stronger CICA: Digitalization, Connectivity and Sustainable Development in Asia”, and steps taken in various cooperation directions were reviewed, and the main directions of mutual cooperation among member states were discussed.
By the Chairmanship, information was presented on the developments on the agenda of CICA’s transformation into an international organization, including the progress of negotiations on the relevant Charter draft.
At the event, an annual assessment was conducted regarding the implementation of confidence-building measures in the military-political dimension of CICA. The development of cooperation in the military-political field by member states and CICA’s role as a multilateral military security platform in this direction were reviewed.
At the meeting, the draft Action Plan for the CICA Think Tank Forum was discussed, and concept papers on the implementation of confidence-building measures across various dimensions of CICA were reviewed, and the concept paper “On the Development of Small and Medium-sized Businesses” was adopted.
In addition, an exchange of views was held on other issues of mutual interest within the CICA space.
