Iran has cut direct ties with the US after threats from White House head Donald Trump to “destroy all Iranian civilization.”
“Elchi” reports that the “Wall Street Journal” (“WSJ”) newspaper reported this, citing sources.
It was noted that this step temporarily complicated efforts to reach an agreement until the deadline set by the US President at 8:00 PM Eastern Time (4:00 AM Baku time).
One of the sources noted that by severing ties, Iran intends to demonstrate its dissatisfaction and defiance of the conditions put forward by Washington. It is not yet known whether direct ties will be restored before the specified deadline.
The White House has not yet commented.
