Death Sentences Accelerated in Iran Amid Conflict with US and Israel

Head of Iran’s Judiciary Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei has called on courts to accelerate the issuance of death sentences in cases related to the conflict with the US and Israel.

“Elchi” reports, citing “The Times of Israel” newspaper, that he made this statement at a meeting of high-ranking judicial officials.

“You must accelerate the issuance of sentences related to executions and confiscation of property,” Ejei said.

The newspaper notes that since the joint operation of the US and Israel began on February 28, Iranian authorities have executed 7 people within the framework of cases related to the January protests, as well as “aiding the enemy during wartime.” According to the newspaper, death sentences are expected for dozens more people.
