In recent times, the use of electric scooters on city roads has rapidly spread. This increase has brought new rules and responsibility issues related to road safety into sharper focus.
“Elchi” reports, citing milliaz, that scooter users may also face fines in some cases.
Regarding the matter, Lumu Israfilli, an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Press Service, stated that the number of users of small electric vehicles, including scooters, has increased recently. These vehicles pose a greater risk to pedestrians due to their silent and fast nature.
Transport expert Yasin Mustafayev noted that the growing interest in this type of transport is a positive development, but the increase in rule violations also raises the probability of accidents.
It should be noted that, according to legislation, small electric vehicles must only travel in the rightmost lane of roads for general use. Furthermore, if a bicycle path exists, these vehicles are prohibited from traveling on the road adjacent to it. In case of violation of these rules, drivers may be fined 40 manats in accordance with Article 338 of the Code of Administrative Offenses.
