How the US wanted to defeat Iran was revealed

NYT: US strategists dreamed of defeating Iran in a remote-controlled war.
“Elchi” reports that, according to The New York Times (NYT), US military strategists dreamed of winning a war with “remote control,” but they faced a harsh reality in Iran.
The article notes that despite the increased speed and accuracy of AI-powered targeting, the war in Iran shows that “reality remains a serious obstacle to victory.”
“The scale and dispersion of Iranian drones exceed AI capabilities. Short-range missiles, especially on mobile launchers, can survive even under constant, full control. If planners dreamed of ultimate victory in a remote-controlled war, they faced a harsher reality in Iran,” the article states.
According to the authors, if the US military were to launch a ground operation in Iran and fight in “close combat,” the limitations of AI-based warfare would become even clearer.
“One thing is already clear: the effective capabilities of artificial intelligence have made it easier to start a war, but they are not yet enough to win it,” the NYT concludes. On February 28, the US, together with Israel, launched a military operation against Iran. In response, Tehran attacked Israel, as well as US bases in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, and the UAE, with missiles and drones. Additionally, reports emerged about Iran closing the Strait of Hormuz, which accounts for approximately 30% of global seaborne oil supply, and attacks on oil infrastructure in Persian Gulf countries. This caused oil prices to rise to a four-year high. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin is making efforts to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East.
