Azer Magsudov released from punishment

Doctor Azer Magsudov, accused of hitting renowned scientist Arif Acaloglu with a car and causing his death, has been released from punishment due to an amnesty.

According to “Elchi”, a decision on this matter was made at a hearing chaired by Judge Ali Mammadov at the Baku Court of Appeal.

Azer Magsudov confirmed the fact to “Report”.

It should be recalled that in November 2023, while driving his car in the Sabunchu district, Azer Magsudov hit Arif Acaloglu with his vehicle. As a result, A. Acaloglu died from his injuries.

It should be noted that Azer Magsudov is the head of the Toxicology Department of the Clinical Medical Center (KTM).

A. Magsudov was charged under Article 263.2 of the Criminal Code (violation of traffic rules or vehicle operation rules – resulting in death).

During the investigation period, a non-custodial preventive measure was chosen for him.

By the verdict of the Sabunchu District Court, he was sentenced to 4 years of imprisonment, with deprivation of the right to drive a car for 1 year and 6 months.

According to the verdict, A. Magsudov served his sentence in a settlement-type correctional facility.
