The “Suvar” Lezgin Folk Song and Dance Ensemble will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its creative activity with a jubilee concert titled “30 Years in the Rhythm of Lezginka”.
At the concert, which will be held on May 30 at the Heydar Aliyev Palace, the ensemble’s rich stage traditions and colorful dance numbers, formed over the years, will be presented to the audience. The evening is also expected to feature the participation of various guests and interesting performances.
It should be noted that the “Suvar” ensemble was established in 1996 on the initiative of the renowned writer-journalist Sadaqat Karimova, with the support of the “Samur” Lezgin National Center. In 2016, the leadership of the ensemble was handed over to its current leader, Zavir Najafov.
In 2011, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism awarded the ensemble the honorary title of “People’s Collective”.
Since its inception, “Suvar” (meaning “holiday” in Lezgin) has set the promotion of the rich music and dance culture of the Lezgin people as its main goal. The collective has successfully performed not only in Azerbaijan but also in many countries around the world, gaining widespread audience appreciation.
The ensemble has worthily represented our country at various international festivals. In 2009, at the invitation of Turkey’s TRT channel, a one-hour documentary film about the collective’s performance in that country was produced and broadcast. In 2011, the ensemble represented Azerbaijan at the international folklore festival held in Ankara.
Today, the “Suvar” ensemble continues to make a significant contribution to the preservation and transmission of national cultural heritage to future generations through its activities.
