Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, in an open letter addressed to the American people, questioned how compatible the Trump administration’s war against Iran was with the “America First” principle.
“Elchi” reports that in the letter, shared via the X platform and published shortly before Trump’s State of the Union address, Pezeshkian posed tough questions about how this war protected the interests of the American people.
In his letter, Pezeshkian asked, “What interests of the American people does this war serve?” and claimed that Iran has never chosen the path of aggression or colonialism in its modern history.
Claiming that portraying Iran as a threat is “the product of the political and economic ambitions of the powerful,” Pezeshkian characterized Tehran’s military actions in the region as “self-defense.”
