Italian Football Federation president resigns after failing to qualify for World Cup

President of the Italian Football Federation, Gabriele Gravina, has resigned.

“Elchi” reports that he submitted his resignation at a meeting held today in Rome.

The federation’s leadership, however, accepted it.

It should be recalled that in the final of the European zone play-off stage, Bosnia and Herzegovina eliminated the Italian national team and qualified for the World Cup. Thus, Italy has been left out of the World Cup final stage for the third consecutive time.

It should be noted that the new president of FIGC will be elected on June 22. Gravina had been holding this position since February 2025.
Head coach Gennaro Gattuso is also expected to leave his post soon.
