Final decision issued regarding Tofiq Yaqublu

A court hearing has been held on the cassation appeal filed against the verdict concerning Tofiq Yaqublu, a member of the National Council.
“Elchi” reports that today, a decision was announced at the Supreme Court during a process chaired by Judge Ilgar Gilyjov. The cassation appeal was not granted, and the verdict was upheld.
It should be noted that, according to the verdict of the Baku Court of Grave Crimes, Tofiq Yaqublu was sentenced to 9 years, and journalist Elnur Mammadov, who was accused along with him, was sentenced to 8 years of imprisonment. The Baku Court of Appeal had upheld the verdict.
Tofiq Yaqublu is accused under Articles 178.3.2 (Fraud – committed by causing damage in a large amount), 320 (Forgery, illegal production, sale of official documents, state awards, seals, stamps, blanks, or use of forged documents), 320.1 (Forgery or illegal production of a certificate or other official document granting rights or releasing from duty, or selling such a document, as well as producing or selling a forged state award, stamp, seal, blank of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the same purpose), and 320.2 (Knowingly using forged documents as specified in Article 320.1 of this Code) of the Criminal Code.
During the investigation, Elnur Mammadov (Vagifoglu) was involved as an accused person.
He was charged under Articles 178 (fraud) and 320 (forgery and use of forged documents) of the Criminal Code. A pre-trial detention measure was chosen against him.
