A part of Bakikhanov’s birthplace collapsed – VIDEO

A part of the house where the historian, scholar, poet, and translator Abbasgulu agha Bakikhanov was born has collapsed.

“Elchi” reports, citing Musavat.com, that the house located in Amirjan village of Baku, where the historian was born, has become unusable due to the impact of rainwater and is currently facing the threat of collapse at any moment.

Village residents state that the stones of the house’s lower floor have already collapsed and fallen onto the street. They are concerned that the house might completely collapse in the coming days and that the residence with great historical significance will disappear.

It should be noted that even before this, People’s Poet Sabir Rustamkhanli had complained about the unusable condition of Bakikhanov’s house-museum located in Amsar village.

According to him, there isn’t even a heating system in the museum:

“Like Mikayil Mushfig’s museum on the Khizi road, Bakikhanov’s collapsing, unworthy house-museum filled my heart with sadness and regret. Is it really not possible to build a museum worthy of Bakikhanov in Guba district?”

Let us recall that Abbasgulu agha Bakikhanov was born on June 21, 1794, in Amirjan village of Baku city. His father, Mirza Muhammad Khan II, was from the lineage of Baku Khans, and his mother, Sofia Khanum, was a Georgian girl who had converted to Islam. Bakikhanov lived in Baku until he was 8 years old and spent the early period of his childhood in the villages of Amirjan, Mashtagha, and Balakhani in Absheron.
