Monthly precipitation record set

According to information as of March 28, 13:00, heavy rain continues in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula.

According to information provided by the National Hydrometeorology Service to “Elchi”, in the last 100 years, the amount of precipitation that fell on March 21, 1988, within a day was 36.8 mm, which constituted 156% of the monthly norm. However, on March 27 of this year, the daily precipitation amount was recorded as 120 mm. This is equivalent to 508% of the monthly norm.

As for monthly indicators, in March 1988, a total of 83 mm of precipitation fell in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, which constituted 352% of the monthly norm. During the past 27 days of March 2026, the amount of precipitation that fell was 128 mm, which constitutes 542% of the monthly norm.

Thus, it has been recorded that new record figures have been set for both daily and monthly precipitation.
