This year, Azerbaijan was represented by choreographer, founder and teacher of “Baku Tango Therapy”, Lenay Seidəli-zadə, in the prestigious competition held annually in March, which brings together dancers from various countries around the world. She achieved success by performing with her partner — musician and tango teacher Yuriy Sedov.
“Elchi” reports that the couple secured second place in the tango nuevo category, earning the title of Vice-Champion of the World Cup and a silver medal.
Lenay Seidəli-zadə shared her thoughts on the competition, stating that every competition is an important stage of development for a dancer, athlete, and teacher. According to her, victory brings completely different feelings:
“First and foremost, you represent Azerbaijan, you bear responsibility as a member of Baku’s tango community. You protect your name and the reputation of your school. This is a very proud feeling. I am grateful to everyone who supported me.”
The dancer also noted that she dedicated this success to the memory of her grandmother, who instilled in her a love for the art of dance and was her first teacher.
The “TanGotoWorld Cup” for Argentine Tango is held within the framework of “TangoToIstanbul”, one of the world’s largest tango festivals. For 18 years, the festival has been organized with the aim of developing tango culture and bringing together the international tango community, gathering renowned teachers, musicians, and dancers from various countries.
It should be noted that this year, Lenay Seidəli-zadə was also selected as the official ambassador of the festival.
